When Should I Book My Maternity Session

Maternity photography sessions are designed to honour this meaningful chapter with softness, elegance, and intention. Each session is thoughtfully guided, allowing you to feel relaxed, confident, and naturally radiant in front of the camera.
The ideal time to schedule your maternity session is between 30–35 weeks of pregnancy — when your bump is beautifully rounded and you’re still comfortable enough to move and pose with ease. This timing offers the perfect balance of comfort and form, resulting in timeless, flattering portraits.
Booking during your second trimester is highly recommended to secure your preferred date, especially during peak seasons. This also allows time to thoughtfully plan wardrobe, styling, and the overall vision of your session — whether you’re drawn to something soft and minimal or more refined and editorial.
This stage of pregnancy is fleeting, and maternity portraits are about more than a growing belly. They preserve the calm before the chaos, the anticipation, and the quiet connection between you and your baby — moments you’ll treasure long after this chapter has passed.

To maintain a calm, unhurried experience for every client, a limited number of maternity sessions are offered each month. Booking in advance ensures your preferred date is reserved and allows us time to thoughtfully plan a session tailored entirely to you.

A non-refundable $25 booking fee is required to confirm your session. This fee secures your date on my calendar and guarantees your place — so you can relax knowing everything is beautifully arranged, with no last-minute stress.

If this is your first maternity session, please know you don’t need any experience in front of the camera. I’ll gently guide you every step of the way, ensuring a comfortable and supportive experience from start to finish.

All maternity photography sessions take place in my purpose-built home studio in Vancouver or Surrey, designed for comfort, privacy, and a relaxed atmosphere.

At this time, I do not offer in-home or on-location maternity sessions.

The ideal time for a maternity session is between 30–35 weeks of pregnancy. During this window, your bump is beautifully round and sits higher, which photographs very flatteringly while you’re still comfortable enough to move and pose with ease.
That said, every pregnancy is unique. If you’re feeling well outside this timeframe, we can absolutely discuss scheduling based on how you’re feeling.

Maternity Preparation Guide 

⏰ What is the best time to schedule a maternity session?

Maternity sessions are often booked 1–2 months in advance, sometimes earlier during busy seasons. Booking early is strongly recommended to secure your preferred date and allow time to plan styling and session details.

📆 How far in advance should I book?

Yes. After your inquiry and booking confirmation, you’ll receive a Pre-Session Questionnaire where you can share your preferences, colour palette, and overall vision.
You’re welcome to reference images from my portfolio that you love. This helps me thoughtfully plan your session and styling.
Please note: I do not recreate or copy images from other photographers or from Google.

📸 Can I choose the style or images for my session?

Yes. Your maternity session includes access to my client wardrobe, featuring a curated collection of maternity gowns designed specifically for pregnancy and photography.
These gowns are chosen to flatter your bump, enhance movement, and photograph beautifully. Final gown selections are guided by your questionnaire and session vision.
You’re also welcome to bring your own outfit if you have a specific style or sentimental piece you’d like to include.

👗 Do you provide maternity gowns?

Your maternity session allows time for 2–3 outfit changes, depending on the flow of the session. If a partner or child is included, the number of changes may vary slightly to keep the experience relaxed and enjoyable.

🙋‍♀️ How many outfit changes are included?

Please bring:
A strapless bra (beige is most versatile)
Neutral underwear (white, beige, or black)
A matching bra and underwear set if you’d like intimate or fine-art maternity images

👜 What should I bring to my maternity session?

Yes. Your partner and children are welcome to join the session at no additional cost. These moments often add depth and emotion to your gallery.
To keep the session calm and focused, attendance is limited to immediate family only.

👨‍👩‍👧 Can my partner or children be included?

Shoes are not required. Bare feet photograph beautifully and create a soft, timeless look.
If your partner is joining, clean dress shoes or barefoot works best. Please avoid sneakers or casual footwear.
For children, bare feet are preferred, though one pair of dress shoes is recommended just in case.

🩰 Do we need to wear shoes?

Yes. Your partner and children are welcome to join the session at no additional cost. These moments often add depth and emotion to your gallery.
To keep the session calm and focused, attendance is limited to immediate family only.

💄 Is hair and makeup included?

Maternity sessions are primarily held in my home studio. Outdoor or on-location sessions may be available as an add-on, depending on location, travel time, and season. Please inquire for details.

🌳 Do you offer outdoor maternity sessions?

Maternity sessions are approximately 2 hours. This time includes styling, gown changes, and photographing.
Please arrive on time, as session time cannot be extended for late arrivals.

⌚ How long is the maternity session?

You’ll receive a small selection of sneak peeks within 1 week of your session.
Your full proofing gallery will be delivered approximately 1.5–2 weeks after your session, where you can select your favourite images for final retouching.
